Product Description

Oleander (Nerium oleander) is one of the most popular and spectacular evergreen shrubs of Mediterranean patios and gardens, producing fragrant white, pink, yellow, or red flowers from early summer through autumn. Available in our selection in both a dense bush and an elegant standard tree form, it fits perfectly into any space. It is strictly a sun-lover; it only blooms profusely in full, scorching sun. In summer, it is highly demanding of water, requiring copious watering (even twice a day on hot days) and weekly fertilizing (with potassium-rich feed) to thrive. It is frost-sensitive in colder climates, so it must be brought indoors to a frost-free, bright, cool (5–10 °C) location before freezing temperatures set in. Pruning is best done in autumn or early spring. Warning: All parts of the plant (leaves, flowers, stems, sap) contain cardiac glycosides and are fatally toxic if ingested by humans or animals (dogs, cats, horses)!

Plant Care

Requires nutrient-rich soil and plenty of sunlight. Water abundantly in summer, even multiple times a day, and fertilize weekly. Requires overwintering (5–10 °C) in colder climates. Prune in early spring or autumn.
